Crews for hiking clubs

Plan club hikes without the trailhead chaos

Group size, carpools, weather calls and a camera roll full of summit photos. Crews gives your hiking club one place to plan every hike, share the leading between volunteers and keep the memories after.

The problem

What hike leaders deal with

  • 01

    Group size matters

Trailhead parking, permits or just safety mean you want twelve, not twenty. A chat thread can’t cap numbers.

  • 02

    Carpools are a puzzle

Who is driving, who needs a lift and where to meet all get arranged in a chat that also has everyone’s gear questions.

  • 03

    Weather changes the plan

When the forecast turns on Friday night, you need everyone who signed up to know, not just those who happen to open the chat.

  • 04

    Leaders need a record

Who came on which hike matters for a club that tracks participation or needs a list on the day.

How it works

A hike, from invite to summit photo

How a hiking club with volunteer hike leaders might run a Saturday hike.

  1. 1Early week

    Post the hike

The hike leader posts Saturday’s route as an event with a capacity of twelve and the trailhead in the details.

  2. 2Midweek

    Sort the lifts

Drivers offer seats in the event chat and passengers claim them. A pinned message keeps the final carpool list at the top.

  3. 3Friday night

    Handle the weather call

Rain moves in, so the leader updates the start time, or cancels. Everyone on the list gets a push notification either way.

  4. 4Sunday

    Collect the photos

Photos go into the event chat and the best become memories on the club wall. The leader exports the participant list as a CSV for the club records.

Is Crews a good fit for your hiking club?

Crews suits hiking and walking clubs with a membership and several volunteer leaders, planning trips a few days ahead and caring about group size, lifts and staying in touch when plans change. It covers the planning and social side before and after the trail.

It isn’t a navigation or safety tool. There are no maps, tracks, offline mode or emergency features, so keep your usual apps and practices for that. And it’s a paid product: for a handful of friends who hike together, a free chat is fine. For a club organizing hikes every weekend, $59 a month buys back a lot of admin.
