Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Crews at heycrews.com, including the installable web app (the “Platform”), you agree to these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

2. The service

Crews helps groups of people organize and stay connected. The Platform includes:

  • Public and private crews with invite links, join requests and roles
  • Shared crew calendars, a personal calendar, events and RSVPs
  • Real-time crew and event chat, including photos and polls
  • Memory posts and a memory wall
  • Leagues and challenges between crews
  • In-app and web push notifications

Crews is a paid service, billed per crew to the crew's admin. Members join for free. Each person's first crew comes with a 14-day free trial that doesn't require a card; additional crews start on a paid subscription. Current prices are shown on our pricing page. Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe and can be cancelled at any time. If a crew's trial or subscription ends without payment, the crew becomes read-only until an admin subscribes; its content is not deleted.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform.
  • You sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure and for activity on your Crews account.
  • Provide accurate information and don't impersonate anyone else.
  • One person, one account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms, act illegally or abuse the Platform. You can stop using Crews at any time and ask us to delete your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post illegal, threatening, abusive, hateful or defamatory content
  • Harass, bully or intimidate other people
  • Post sexually explicit content
  • Send spam or unsolicited advertising
  • Infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy
  • Distribute malware or try to gain unauthorized access to the Platform or other accounts
  • Scrape the Platform or collect other users' data
  • Manipulate challenges or league standings, for example with fake accounts or coordinated fake votes
  • Use the Platform for anything illegal

5. Content

5.1 Your content

You keep ownership of what you post (“User Content”). By posting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and share it on the Platform so that the people you share it with can see it. For example, a memory post your crew submits to a challenge will be shown to people voting on that challenge.

5.2 Our content

The Platform itself, including its design, features, code, name and logo, belongs to Crews and is protected by intellectual property laws.

5.3 Moderation

We do not review content before it is posted, but we may remove content or restrict accounts that break these Terms. Crew admins and moderators can also remove content and members in their own crews.

6. Crews, events and meetups

Each crew may set its own additional rules, and event organizers may set rules for their events. You agree to follow them along with these Terms.

Crews is a tool for organizing. We don't organize, host or supervise events, and we are not responsible for what happens at them. Use good judgment when meeting people, especially people you don't know well.

7. Leagues and challenges

League points, rankings and challenge results are for fun. They have no monetary value and can't be exchanged for anything. We may adjust points, tiers or results to fix errors or address abuse, and we may change how leagues and challenges work over time.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. By using the Platform, you agree to it.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to keep it running, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and notifications may be delayed or not delivered. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time.

Users are responsible for their own content and conduct. We don't endorse opinions or advice shared by users, and we aren't responsible for third-party websites linked from the Platform.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crews will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or use, arising from or related to your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or US$100.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Crews harmless from claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or your violation of anyone else's rights.

12. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with a description of the work, where the infringing material is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, a statement that your notice is accurate, made under penalty of perjury, and your physical or electronic signature.

13. Disputes

Before filing a claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Disputes that can't be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, on an individual basis and not as part of a class or representative action, except where the law where you live does not allow this.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country say otherwise.

15. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Crews about the Platform.
